SLPS came together to give worship and thanks to the goddess Ostara over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend on Saturday, March 19, 2017 at 7pm. Under the evening dusk, outside with the warm spring evening, the members called on Ostara while lightening to “Ostara” by Lisa Thiel on her album Cycle of the Seasons. The toasting was with Bailey’s Irish Cream. The feast included corned beef brisket and colcannon.
SLPS enjoyed a fun weekend at the 14th Annual Salt Lake City International Tattoo Convention. Vending on Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March 12, many people came to get tattoo tarot readings a buy a few copies of Vol 1 of Enheduanna. President Daniel Cureton and Vice President Ashton Longhurst enjoyed meeting new clients, with some of previous years returning. The hum of tattoo machines buzzed through the day, with the various competitions being announced and photos for the 2017 year book being snapped. Vendors from across the country as well as outside the USA were present (Seoul Ink from Seoul, South Korea). A very interesting tap tattoo vendor came to the convention which attracted much attention from crowds.
We are very sad we lost a pine tree in the storm yesterday. Winds knocked it into the neighbors yard and patio, thankfully away from all houses. We had be nurturing, watering, and trimming the tree for years to strengthen it but it just went. We’ll have the cut the one next to it down as well as it’s just as vulnerable. Sad to loose two pines. We will have one left in the temple, but we can make fire wood with the down trees. The area will be reused for native trees and plants. It’s still a shock though to loose a friend. It gave us many beautiful experiences as it watched over our temple area as seen from our Midsummer 2014 photo.
